Story of Langar Disguise

Today I am going to share the story of ''Langar Disguise''
A holy message of Love and Selflessness , I praise it in My Guru's divine name ''Waheguru''
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Have you ever heard that God lives in cozy homes? For us our homes are the same as the Guru’s home, because in our homes we treat each other with respect, we're always friendly to everyone and we feed anyone who comes - just like the Guru's langar.

Langar is where we feed everyone any time, any day, day or night. Everyone is welcome to eat langar. They may be strangers. They may be smelly or pretty; they may be black or white, they may even be from Mars or Venus, it doesn't matter, everyone is fed side by side. Can you imagine if your home was just like a langar hall?
This is the story of how we learned that our homes are the Guru’s home.

Hundreds of years ago the 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Rai was our leader. He was young and strong. He often laughed out loud and his love for God was deep and constant. Those who were near him experienced joy and bliss. It was a world filled with fun challenges and deep devotion! The Sikhs always wanted to know, what kind of lesson would he teach next!

Once he declared to his beloveds, "Everyone must make langar in their own homes! Oh, Sikhs of mine, listen... your house is a langar hall to feed all travelers and guests. Feed the needy. No one should ever leave your home without being served!"
Everyone listened to what he said and the Sikhs became famous for serving and taking care of others. Still Guru ji wanted to test just how ready the Sikhs were. Were they only ready sometimes or were they ready all the time?

So one day, very early in the morning, something funny happened. It was the divine mischief of the master, the complete man. Guru Gobind Rai himself put on a disguise! He dressed just like a common traveler!
Now normally, Guru ji always wore clothes that were perfect and clean, without even a single wrinkle. But that morning he put on dirty old clothes so no one would recognize him.
He went to the homes of his devotees - their langar halls. He came at the most inconvenient time. It was early in morning so the Sikhs were just waking up. They were getting ready for the day, washing up, starting their prayers. He would knock on the door and say, "Sorry to disturb you, I am just a humble traveler. Do you have any chapatis that I can eat?"
“Uh, ummm, it’s really early, you must be on an early schedule! Sorry but we don’t have anything ready for you right now. Food will be cooked later. Come by later and we can feed you then.”
The master was testing his beloveds. He wanted to show them one simple thing in an unforgettable way. He showed them that they were still a little little bit selfish and not yet completely selfless. They still needed some time for themselves. They weren't there for others at every moment.

And so the Master went from door to door, "Sorry to disturb you at this time I'm a traveler, do you have any daal that I can eat?"  One man replied, “Excuse me? Oh, It’s so early, it’s not breakfast time yet. Besides daal takes a long time to cook. We’ll be happy to serve you.... please just come back later.”
As the master went from one house to another, he smiled and his eyes twinkled. Not one Sikh was ready to serve him yet.

Finally he came to the house of a man named Nand Lal. Nand Lal was a wise poet, and he loved the True Guru. Even though he was 23 years older than Guru Gobind Rai, he became his devotee. His heart blossomed in the Guru's court. He was full of devotion and love, and he always prayed to be at the feet of the True Guru.
The beloved Nand Lal hopped up to greet his guest, "welcome, welcome friend". Guru in disguise said, “Excuse me Sir"... Nand Lal quickly replied, "Come in, come in! Please sit down and relax." The Guru said, “I am just a humble traveler, do you have any food...” And Nand Lal quickly replied without hesitation, “Sir, you don’t need to ask. Food is just now coming.
He was so happy to get the chance to serve. He immediately brought whatever food he could. There was some raw dough, there was daal that was just half-cooked, some raw vegetables and some butter. He placed the un-cooked food in front of his guest... with great grace and honor!
Nand Lal generously said, "Help yourself to everything here. Have as much as you want....  However, If you will allow me to, I will roll the dough and cook it to make warm chapaatis; I will cook the daal until it is soft and I will cook the veggies until they are very yummy. It is my honor to serve you, in the Name of My Master, please relax and enjoy yourself."
Bhai Nand Lal really loved to serve. Guru ji was very happy. Guru ji enjoyed the food. And the food was full of loving energy. Bhai Nand Lal ji truly took the Guru’s order to heart: “No one leave your house without being served...” Whoever knocked on his door was sure to leave Nand Lal's house completely satisfied. And in this cozy and loving way, God lived in the home of Bhai Nand Lal.
The next morning, Guru Ji  told everyone, "In our city, there is only one temple of hospitality, only one real langar. And that is Bhai Nand Lal's home. Nand Lal speaks the language of love and devotion. Nand Lal blesses us all. His commitment is pleasing. It is this love that wins all hearts. Running such a Langar the Sikhs become truly rich. In this way Bhai Nand Lal's langar is most successful.
The Sikhs smiled and realized that their beloved Guru ji had tested them. Even though they were friendly, they still hadn't gone all the way. Bhai Nand Lal was 'tyar bar tyar,' always ready!! He was in a divine state, he happily provided langar to everyone without hesitation or excuses. When you become selfless, then you never have excuses and you are always happy.  Bhai Nand Lal became the example of how all of us need to treat guests.

As Sikhs we never stop learning and improving ourselves. He taught us that love has no limit and serving has no limit. Whoever comes to our home, we give them the deepest respect. We treat them as the great person they are. We even treat them like a saint.
Bhai Nand Lal said, "Getting water for the saints is equal to being the greatest emperor of the world. Cooking food for them is more pleasant than all the paradises put together. Preparing the Guru's langar is equal to all wealth, riches, and magical super-powers. Holy people take care of the poor, and one feels humble just being around them. The Guru's Holy Word is within all things... everywhere."
This was the mischief of Guru Gobind Rai. Yes he had disguised himself and tricked his Sikhs, and then he taught them, and all of us, an unforgettable lesson. A lesson about how to treat each other. A lesson in how to be a good host. A lesson in how to serve & how God lives in cozy homes.

An Enigmatic Window To Reality

Closing my eyes an enigmatic window opens before my sight
Whirling abyss assimilating smoke and shimmering shine
Blurred my sight with turmoil void trans-versing to radiant vision
Diverse the climax and scenes merging together arise
Full of conflict and strife; no spark of love but of disputes
Destitute my soul but helpless at the same time
Discarded I was to put my feet in that dreamy world!
The world full of abhorrence and aversion
Unable to bear the affliction around I closed that enigmatic window
Opening my eyes before the realistic world ;the real life!
Realized I the sweat on my body with the heat of injustice and war
Ranging at rapid pace like fire!
The same scenes and climax
I stared at with unbelievable glance happening around
And this time no more I were bound
My eyes are in a search...
In search of a way!
A strong voice aloud in my throbbing heart
You can do it!
You can Change this malfeasance change,
Because you are changed to make Changes!
Changes that could make justice with sanction of truth
I am in action !
Action to discharge the transgression.

Wish you all a very Happy Diwali !!!

Speculations and Contrasts

The more you wait; the more it gets late
The more expect; the more it hurts you exact
The more you try to make; the more situations tend to break
The more you find reasons; the more you get in confusion
The more you try to show; the more you get outshone
The more you have; the more things you have to loose
The more you dare; the more you bear

The more you share; the more you cheer
The more you love; the more you be loved
The more you try; the more things come by
The more imagine; the more your thoughts be designed
The more you believe within; the more stronger even the fate tries to make you win
The more challenges you accept; the more opportunities your way precept
The more you be true; the more you be You!

P.S.- I wrote this as a fun scribble but soon realized worth to share with you all. I would love to read yours ''the more...''

Momentary Escape

Rushing her loitering steps
breaking the walls of Qualm
for today she comprehended
the verity of Life ; Momentary Escape
getting abscond by each passing flash
of nothing but lingering memories that would remain
stressed her soul and mind being nostalgic
when clashed to her obscure reverie
an air of vigilance awaken her
with a little message, worth for a life
''Life is short then why to make it lost?''

Starring Someone is Special all about the beautiful journey of Few Miles

Excited?? Here you go-

What does Few Miles mean according to you?

Few Miles, Let the reason behind the name be an untold story. As I said earlier, Few Miles is
result of inspiration from Wordsworth‟s “Lines composed a few miles above Tintern Abby.” It also implies the journey that took me here, which made me learn what life is, and it reflects my love for writing.

The journey:

I'm glad to be back to India and I'm very excited too! As most of you know, I'm Saravana
Kumar Murugan, and I write at ,'' Few Miles'' under a pen name, ''Someone is Special'' as a sweet dedication to dream angel (in dreams)

"Writing is my passion, and I am born in this world to express my dreams, I do so as poems and prose. I do prefer poetry as it helps me to rhyme what I love to, and attain peace."

I met an angel in my dreams, and for whom I first penned a poem titled “Sorry”. From that day onwards, I started to pen down free verse, rhymes, most of them being romantic ones dedicated to my sweetest dream girl. I started this blog on 20th October 2009 on demand by my sweet friend and as a sweet dedication to my dream angel under the pen name, “Someone is Special”am so happy, as today my blog turns three-year-old. 3 years, 1095 days, 26280 hours of writing has changed my life a lot and helped me a lot in shaping up my professional career as well.

Do I have words to express my words of joy? I doubt if I can express! I want to thank my close friend DEVIL, because of her motivating words; I entered into this beautiful world, and my dream angel inspired me to write romantic words.

I would say the journey was bittersweet in my initial days, which made me depressed, but my close friend helped me to overcome it and advised me to face the critics with confidence, as they are the stepping-stones for success. Thereafter the journey has experienced so many sweet moments, which made the journey special :)

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to God, Maa, Besties (DEVIL, ACQUIST, AND

VAMPIRE) and to a long list of bloggers (Leo, Jingle, Zainab, Simran, Ashzzes, Saru, Rachana, Scribbling Gal, Brian, G-Man, Amity, Vibhuthi, Nanka, Bikram, Mohinee, Dreamy Girl, Jamie, Cloud Nine, Diwa, Sri Valli, Asni, Panchali, Aayu, Megha, Ellecee and the list continues.) I might have missed some names but they are residing in my heart. I thank for the smiles you gave me in the past three years and hoping to receive the same amount of support in future too.

I express my sudden emotions and thoughts the very moment they strikes to mind.  Here are few of my experiences I had in recent days. You may call them SimEnvison ;)

* Time comes when you find others better than you and kicks your own worthy. At that moment you fails to recognize your efficiency that is much better in its own way.

* Everything has a dual phase; keep patience till it turns in your favor.

* There is a possibility of everything but only when you tend to make it so with true efforts . ''Your efforts determines the part you deserve.''

* No matter, if your broken heart cease to be mend! In spite of healing let it tear. Let it be more spacious than before.

* Try the best you can without caring of what would be the result because being true to yourself shall never let you stop or loose Hope. You know the efforts you made were true and will never go in vain, as sometimes the fate plays its game but remember Not Always.

* We believe hard times are the part of Fate; A crucial part not because it is inevitable but because it shows the other phase that teaches an experience so that we could realize ''There is nothing for granted''

* You'll find Options and Opportunities at each step.In that you may get confused! Seek suggestions but rarely notice, they are as options to make you Wise. Take your move with Confidence in you.

True emotions

'Today I am sharing a Guest Post at my blog honored by my dear Friend and an excellent Blogger, Janhvi. Her writing usually deals with emotions and facts that never fails to enrapture me.She blogs at ''Thoughtful Thoughts''  and at ''Blemished Love''  (together with a very famous face in the blogging world ,Leo of I Rhyme Without Reason) which is my personal favorite. Thank you so much Jani for blessing my blog with your wonderful views on Love and Friendship.

I read 'Blemished Love' ....'knowing' . Your views on love fascinates me and makes me think. Since, my blog too is about Friendship and Relation. I would love to invite you for the Guest Post at my blog to share your views on Love ( any of the aspect; your choice)''
On that her reply was -''OMG! That is so sweet of you! Gosh would love to do that anytime.
                                                 THANK YOU SO MUCH!''

A four letter word that has a place in all our lives but which hardly any of us understand even remotely. It is said that it can hardly ever be unconditional. Strange statement, because it can only be unconditional or not be existent at all.

Many of you would think I am being idealistic, but what I am saying is the truth. If it is conditional, it cannot be love.Read this to find out why.

So then what is it? How do we define it or even understand it. As cliche' as this may sound, learn from your pet or a baby around you. You leave it alone locked and the first thing it does when it sees you be happy. The baby cries for attention, but never says/shows lack of love for you. It is us adults that use tactics such as anger and disappointment to tell the 'one we love' that they have not made us happy.

''Love is the biggest happiness'', so that means we love to be happy? Wasn't it supposed to be a pure emotion devoid of selfishness ? I am speaking a Utopian language here, it happens nowhere these days; I am told when I discuss this with people. Yes, it is rare, but that is so because we have made it that way.Our love for others is not for the emotion but for the interest it serves us.

If being honest to yourselves, you can name one person you truly love for no reason and at no point have had any doubt  for that love, I salute you. I would be lying if I said that as of now I can think of someone who I love unconditionally . I am trying to but it is still a journey in which the destination is far.

Where are you on this path? Even started?

Here is another point that I want to raise up. A the person who has given me this opportunity to share with you all what my emotions on certain topics are, has her blog based on Love as well as Friendship. I have a little something to say about friendship too.

I read somewhere that a true friend from your side is someone about whom you have never spoken ill of except in their presence, and of whom you have necessarily pointed out something they can better. In this regard I find myself lucky as I can claim to have such friends. Can you?

And here's something special about friends, if you have too many at the same level, you have none. It is difficult to understand this concept but it is necessary. Remember that in your entire lifetime if you can find 3 or 4 people, who are truly, by all definitions, your fiends, ten consider yourself very lucky.

Just to clarify, I at no point mean to say that there will not be fights with people we love or are friends with.
The deciding factor if in those fights, our feelings change towards the point of disagreement  or the person concerned. If it is the latter, rethink your relation with that person.

Ending on a phase which I heard in a movie and should be a mantra for all of us, ''Go on and Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably and Never regret anything that made you smile''

Take care everyone!
